This year I wanted to try something a little different than in years past to see what kind of response I would get, etc.... You know, all the things! So I put out a model call for upcoming Class of 2020 seniors to do a shoot. The response I got was amazing, but trying to get everyone to be available on the same date just wasn't possible, so we ended up with a great group of 8 amazing girls:
Sydney & Gabriela, Bartlett High School
Malena & Shayda, Houston High School
Macie, First Assembly Christian School
Shelby, Emma & Mallie, Corinth High School
We were all in a group message together and sent outfits, inspirations, and thoughts to one another. I let them choose between a Boho Shoot and a Red, White, and Blue themed shoot and you guessed it... BOHO WON! I love them both so I was good either way. Then the fun began!
On Tuesday, June 18, my house was bouncing with all of these girls and some parents. The excitement filled the air. Some of the girls opted to have a hair and make-up artist do their hair and makeup while others did their own. A HUGE shoutout to Sarah Bobo Harris for bringing all of her stuff to my house to make these girls feel beautiful. Let's just say my dining room and kitchen breakfast nook was turned into all things girly and I absolutely loved it. (BOY MOM HERE!!!)
The time came for us to head out. The weather all day had been perfect. Not too hot, not raining, nice breeze... When we stepped out of the house, we saw a huge black cloud in the direction we were going. But we didn't let that stop us. We didn't do all of this preparing for nothing! We went to Overton Park formal gardens for our shoot. The rain didn't happen and everything was perfect. After our shoot was over, I took all of the girls to Babalu in Midtown to treat them to dinner.
I know I had a great time, and I am pretty sure these girls did as well. I hope that they made some new friends and now have this memory that will last a lifetime! I will never forget it!!
Special thanks to my intern for the summer, Tayler, and the few parents that hung out to watch over purses, cell phones, and keys. I plan to do another shoot like this in the future, so stay tuned for the next model call!
